Rickrack hairpin lace

I’ve made some small hairpin lace, the strips were only 1 cm wide. The off-white lace is made of a size 12 thread, the size is 2½ x 17 cm or 1 x 6½ inch. The green lace is made of a new thread I bought recently, DMC Cébélia. I used a size 1 crochet hook for both.
The strip for this hairpin lace was 2 cm wide. The finished rickrack lace is 5 x 35 cm or 2 x 13½ inch. The thread is mercerized knitting cotton. I used a size 2 crochet hook for this one.

  1. Gorgeous work! My mom used to do hairpin lace crochet, but I'll be darned if I can get the technique. Sometimes things are just organic, but this one confuses me. Nicely done!

    1. In het Nederlands heet dit guimpehaakwerk, maar het klinkt veel leuker in het Engels!

  6. Your hairpin lace pieces look lovely Annet! I made a couple of hairpin lace scarves years and years ago. I don't remember how to do it at all anymore.

  7. Really delicate and beautiful. Your tool must be a very small one - in my treasures I keep "hairpins" of my mothers work, they are about 4 to 5 cm large. I wonder if that is the same - scarves for instance.

    1. Thanks, Anneliese. I use the same loom, but set the distance at 1 or 2 cm! There's a photo of it in one of my first posts about hairpin lace:
